Analysis of the play "Andorra" showing war or love based on Aristotelian and non-Aristotelian structure

Abstract

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: World war ‖and its devastating effects have created some plays about loneliness doubt, ‌war, ‌and destruction. Max Rudolf Frisch is one of the authoress who has created several works in the field. He is a Swiss architect, Journalist, novelist and play writer born in Zurich, In 1911. He has created numerous works such as "Andorra play" which is examined for the distortion of time, character, narration, prediction war, antisemitism. Andorra and Love. The main subject is studying and analyzing the dramatic elements of the play, based on Aristoteles and non-Aristoteles structure as the two main theories for play writing. Which (carefully) examine the structure and the hidden concept of the play. further more, showing the power of the author with precise and scientific criticism, the weakness of drama is also identified.

METHODOLOGY: The analytical pattern of this research is based on library studies. To comprehend the content and structure of the play, "Andorra," a thorough reading was initially conducted. The text was then analyzed from various perspectives based on Aristotelian theory and modern structure in a non-Aristotelian format.

FINDINGS: The main characteristic of Aristotelian play structure is its reliance on the unity of the three acts. On the other hand, modern drama is accompanied by elements such as non-locus, non-time, and narrative disruption. The investigations indicate that "Andorra" as a modern work has utilized elements from both the Aristotelian and modern patterns in its structure.

CONCLUSION: Analyze show that the play can be divided into two parts; Aristotle;(tables; one to 12) and non-Aristoteles (nine scene or Avant scene) Due to negative effects of Avant’s(prediction) the non-Aristotle’s part has less dramatic action and less creative narration which lead to less suspense in the play. this is a weakness of the work, but Frisch"s strength is hiding Love beyond antisemitism. on the other hands, the hidden Love is main element of the start or end point of the drama.another main concern of the characterse of the play even the author himself is the concept of war. analysis shows that there is no singe of fear ,horror , violation,of the law in the entire drama only at the end of the play does it become concrete with the presence of the black -clads. analysis shows that there is no singe of fear ,horror , violation,of the law in the entire draonly at the end of the play does it become concrete with the presence of the black -clads. analysis shows that there is no singe of fear ,horror , violation,of the law in the entire drama only at the end of the play does it become concrete with the presence of the black -clads. analysis shows that there is no singe of fear ,horror , violation,of the law in the entire drama only at the end of the play does it become concrete with the presence of the black -clads.
