The scientific and ethical responsibility of everything published in the journal rests with the editor. This means that the editor must always consider the following:
• Striving to meet the needs of readers and authors;
• Striving to continuously improve the journal.
• Adopting procedures and processes to ensure the quality of the materials published.
• Maintaining freedom of expression;
• Maintaining the integrity of the scientific record in the journal.
• Preventing the contamination of intellectual and ethical standards by commercial interests.
• Being always ready to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies when needed.
The best practice for editors includes the following:
• Actively seeking the opinions of authors, readers, reviewers and editorial board members on how to improve the journal’s processes
• Encouraging and being aware of the latest methods and research related to peer review and re-evaluating the journal’s processes in light of new findings.
• Supporting the design of schemes to reduce misconduct in research and publication
• Supporting innovation in informing and educating researchers about publication ethics.
• Evaluating the effects of the journal’s policies on the behavior of authors and reviewers and revising the policies, if necessary, to encourage responsible behavior and prevent misconduct.
