Symbolism is one of the
most fundamental tools for creating meaning in literary texts, and it seeks to
depict the poet"s worldview and provide coherence to the structure of the text
by creating a network of intermediary relationships. Despite the position of
Ismail Mohammadpour"s poetry in contemporary social, ritual, and sustainability
poems and the winning of numerous literary awards, no independent research has
been conducted on the structure and function of symbolic networks in his poems.
The present study aims to identify, classify, and analyze symbolic networks in
three collections of poems, "Unanswered Permissions, A Train from the
Shahrivar Republic, and Like Ismail," and to explain their relationship
with the poet"s intellectual system and symbolization style

METHODOLOGY: The
present study was conducted in a descriptive-analytical manner and based on
documentary and library studies. After extracting all the symbols of the three
collections, they were classified into eight symbolic networks based on semantic
overlap: "cosmic, animal, human, inanimate, plant, color, Quranic, and
nature." Then, by quantitatively analyzing the frequency and qualitative
functions and relationships between the networks, the poet"s symbolization
pattern was drawn and its connection with his worldview was explained.

FINDINGS: tively, and cosmic networks have
the lowest frequency. By comparing the three collections and the chronological
order of their composition, it can be seen that the range of symbols has
gradually grown and the system of symbolism has become more diverse and complex
in later collections (Unanswered Permissions with 28%, A Train from the
Shahrivar Republic with 33%, and Like Ismail with 39%). A qualitative study of
the extracted symbols also indicates that Mohammadpour, in addition to using
established symbols of Persian literature and Islamic culture, has created a
dynamic and purposeful system by creating inter-network links and representing
concepts such as: "religious identity, resistance, love, homeland,
sacrifice, and social criticism."

CONCLUSION: By reflecting and examining the
extracted symbolic networks, it can be understood that the semantic structure
and poetic discourse in the three aforementioned collections are not based on
the individual function of symbols, but are formed through the interaction of
symbolic networks. The stability of the “human” and “nature” networks in all
three collections, along with the gradual increase in the density of symbols,
reflects the coherence of the poet’s worldview and the evolution of his
symbolization style. It also shows that the poet’s ecosystem has been very
influential in the introduction of natural symbols into the field of his poems.
The coexistence of human and Quranic symbols has also presented a coherent
pattern of his beliefs and lived experiences in the field of Iranian-Islamic
culture and the discourse of sustainability.
<OtherAbstract Language="fa">

تجارب زیسته او در حوزه فرهنگ ایرانی ـ اسلامی و گفتمان پایداری ارائه کرده است.</OtherAbstract><ObjectList><Object Type="keyword"><Param Name="value">Symbol</Param></Object><Object Type="keyword"><Param Name="value"> symbolic networks</Param></Object><Object Type="keyword"><Param Name="value"> Ismail Mohammadpour</Param></Object><Object Type="keyword"><Param Name="value"> similar to Ismail</Param></Object><Object Type="keyword"><Param Name="value"> unanswered permissions</Param></Object><Object Type="keyword"><Param Name="value"> a train from the Republic of Shahrivar</Param></Object></ObjectList><keywords>نماد, شبکه های نمادین, اسماعیل محمّدپور, شبیه اسماعیل, اجازه های بی جواب, قطاری از جمهوری شهریور</keywords><keywords_fa>Symbol, symbolic networks, Ismail Mohammadpour, similar to Ismail, unanswered permissions, a train from the Republic of Shahrivar</keywords_fa><ArchiveCopySource DocType="pdf">https://bahareadab.com/downloadPDF/2062.pdf</ArchiveCopySource><web_url_pdf>https://bahareadab.com/downloadPDF/2062.pdf</web_url_pdf><web_url Language="fa">https://bahareadab.com/article/تحلیل شبکه های نمادین و کارکردهای معنایی آنها در سروده های اسماعیل محمّدپور (موردکاوی سه مجموعۀ اجازه های بی‌جواب، قطاری از جمهوری شهریور و شبیه اسماعیل)</web_url><web_url Language="en">https://bahareadab.com/en/article/Analysis of symbolic networks and their semantic functions in the poems of Ismail Mohammadpour (Case study of three collections: Unanswered Permissions, Train from the Republic of Shahrivar, and Similar to Ismail)</web_url></Article></ArticleSet>
