This concept holds a distinguished place in Islamic mystical tradition. This study aims to examine the role of dreams in Risala al-Qushayriyya and provide a comparative analysis with the dreams depicted in Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh and Rumi’s Masnavi, utilizing Carl Gustav Jung’s analytical psychology. METHODOLOGY: This research employs a descriptive-analytical method, grounded in the theoretical framework of Carl Gustav Jung’s analytical psychology. FINDINGS: The findings indicate that in all three works, dreams possess symbolic, epistemic, and psychological functions in addition to their narrative role. Many of the dream themes correspond with fundamental Jungian archetypes, including the “Wise Old Man,” the “Self,” “the Journey,” the “Shadow,” and “rebirth.” CONCLUSION: Drawing upon the foundations of Islamic mysticism, Risala al-Qushayriyya portrays dreams not merely as reflections of the individual unconscious, but as a manifestation of the soul’s connection to the metaphysical realm (Malakut) and ultimate truth.
