In such an insecure environment, the child is looking for an escape route that can save her/ himself from being harassed by others in order to be less anxious and fearful, and in the meantime, she/he benefits from the three techniques of "detached personality", "dominant personality", and "aggressive personality". In this article, the mechanism of basic anxiety from Karen Horney"s perspective in the character of women in the novel "Secret in the Alleys" by Fariba Vafi has been examined and analyzed. METHODOLOGY: The present study uses a descriptive-analytical approach to examine the basic anxiety in the novel A Secret in the Alleys and analyzes and traces the dreams, feelings and emotions, needs, desires and women"s reactions to situations in light of Karen Horney"s theory of personality anxiety. FINDINGS: The psychological atmosphere prevailing in the novel "A Secret in the Alleys" is filled with anxiety and distress, and the description of the characters in this novel is very skillful. Also, due to the deep anxiety that is institutionalized in the characters, stagnation prevails over the women in the novel and the future has no meaning for them. Anxiety and worry in the behavior and reactions of the characters are seen most in Humeyra and Mahrokh, but other women also inevitably suffer from basic anxiety based on their childhood experiences. CONCLUSION: Analysis of the female characters in this novel based on Horney"s theory of basic anxiety shows that Humeyra is the only woman who has become a detached character to treat her neurosis and basic anxiety, who turns to avoiding people, independence, and perfection to treat her neurosis. The character of Mahrokh turns to a combination of aggression and separation to treat her inner anxiety. On the one hand, she has become painfully passive towards her husband and has no hope of liberation and salvation, and on the other hand, she is not yet desperate towards her children and tries to use aggression to prevent her children, especially her daughters, from suffering her bitter fate. The characters of Aziz and Azar have also turned to aggression to treat their anxiety. They respectively consider the move against Mahrokh and Gholam Ali as a means of achieving power, exploitation, gaining prestige, enjoying admiration, and progress. Mastane and Monir have also become domineering personalities to treat their inner anxiety, and the need to move towards people, the need for approval and affection, and the need for affection are among the most important characteristics of this group.زمینه و هدف: با توجه به دیدگاه کارن هورنای، شرایط نامناسب و ناهنجار دوران کودکی مانع پرورش استعدادهای کودک شده و موجب فراگیری اضطراب و پریشانی در وجود کودک میشود که به آن «اضطراب اساسی» میگویند. کودک در چنین محیط ناامنی، در جستجوی راه گریزی است که بتواند خود را از آزار دیگران نجات دهد تا کمتر دچار اضطراب و دلهره شود و در این میان از سه تکنیک «شخصیت جداشده»، «شخصیت سلطه طلب» و «شخصیت پرخاشگر» سود میجوید. در این مقاله ساز و کار اضطراب بنیادی از دیدگاه کارن هورنای در شخصیت زنان رمان «رازی در کوچه ها» از فریبا وفی مورد بررسی و تحلیل قرار گرفته است. روش مطالعه: پژوهش حاضر با رویکردی توصیفی-تحلیلی به بررسی اضطراب اساسی در رمانرازی در کوچه هامیپردازد و رؤیاها، احساسات و عواطف، نیازها، آرزوها و واکنش زنان به موقعیتها را با نظر به نظریۀ اضطراب شخصیتی کارن هورنای تحلیل و ریشه یابی میکند. یافته ها: فضایی روانی حاکم بر رمان «رازی در کوچه ها» آلوده به اضطراب و پریشانی است و توصیف شخصیتها در این رمان بسیار ماهرانه صورت گرفته است. همچنین بدلیل اضطراب عمیقی که در شخصیتها نهادینه شده، رکود بر زنان رمان حاکم است و آینده برای آنها معنایی ندارد. اضطراب و نگرانی‌ در رفتار و واکنشهای شخصیتها بیش از همه در حمیرا و ماهرخ دیده میشود، اما سایر زنان نیز بر اساس تجربیات کودکی خود ناگزیر دچار اضطراب اساسی هستند. نتیجه گیری: تحلیل شخصیت زنان این رمان بر اساس نظریۀ اضطراب اساسی هورنای نشان میدهد حمیرا تنها زنی است که برای درمان روانجوری و اضطراب اساسی خود به شخصیتی جداشده تبدیل شده است که برای درمان روان‌رنجوری خود به دوری جستن از مردم، استقلال و کمال روی می‌آورد. شخصیت ماهرخ برای درمان اضطراب درونی خود به ترکیبی از پرخاشگری و جداشدگی روی می‌آورد. او از سویی در برابر همسرش دچار انفعالی دردناک شده و امیدی به رهایی و نجات ندارد و از سویی دیگر در برابر فرزندانش هنوز ناامید نیست و سعی میکند با اِعمال پرخاشگری کاری کند که فرزندانش بویژه دخترانش به سرنوشت تلخ او دچار نشوند. شخصیت عزیز و آذر نیز برای درمان اضطراب خویش به پرخاشگری روی آورده اند. ایشان بترتیب حرکت علیه ماهرخ و غلامعلی را ابزاری برای رسیدن به قدرت، استثمار، کسب حیثیت، برخورداری از تحسین و پیشرفت میداند. مستانه و منیر نیز برای درمان اضطراب درونی خویش به شخصیتی سلطه طلب تبدیل شده اند که نیاز به حرکت بسوی مردم، نیاز به تأیید و محبت، و نیاز به مونس از مهمترین مشخصه های این دسته است.کارن هورنای, اضطراب, داستان معاصر, رازی در کوچه ها, فریبا وفیKaren Horney, anxiety, contemporary fiction, A Secret in the Alleys, Fariba Vafihttps://bahareadab.com/downloadPDF/1798.pdfhttps://bahareadab.com/downloadPDF/1798.pdfhttps://bahareadab.com/article/بازنمایی اضطراب اساسی در شخصیت زنان در رمان «رازی در کوچه ها» بر اساس نظریۀ کارن هورنایhttps://bahareadab.com/en/article/Representation of Basic Anxiety in the Character of Women in the Novel "Secret in the Alleys" Based on Karen Horney's Theory
