The present study seeks to analyze and compare the life style and purposiveness of action of the heroes of Samnameh and Bahmannameh based on Alfred Adler’s theory of individual psychology. METHODOLOGY: This study was conducted using a qualitative method and text-based content analysis, following a comparative approach between the two poems. The components of Adler’s theory feeling of inferiority, mode of compensation, striving for superiority, and social interest along with the four life style types (ruling, getting, avoiding, and socially useful), were operationalized as specific textual indicators, and the actions and speech of the selected heroes of the two poems were examined and compared with one another based on these indicators. FINDINGS: In Bahmannameh, the character of Bahman is closest to the ruling type, as his action is shaped mainly around vengeance and the compensation of a feeling of inferiority arising from Esfandiar’s legacy, although traces of a concern for justice can also be seen in him. In contrast, Faramarz and Barzin-Azar, due to the connection of their actions with responsibility and collective interests, are closer to the socially useful type. In Samnameh, Sam’s life style is shaped at the intersection of heroic legacy, the pressure to prove himself, and romantic longing; his action is individualistic and self-affirming, tending toward the ruling type, although traces of the getting type can also be seen in his emotional dimension. In contrast, Jamshid and Nariman are closer to the socially useful pattern. CONCLUSION: The two poems present two different modes of representing heroism: Bahmannameh rests more on power-oriented compensation and revenge, while Samnameh relies more on individual self-affirmation and social interest. Nevertheless, both poems show that the epic hero, behind his powerful appearance, is a purposeful character whose action is a response to the feeling of inferiority and the striving for superiority.هدف: در منظومه های حماسی، کنش پهلوانان تنها بر پایۀ رخدادهای بیرونی شکل نمیگیرد، بلکه با ساختار شخصیتی و انگیزه های درونی آنان نیز پیوند دارد. پژوهش حاضر میکوشد بر اساس نظریۀ روانشناسی فردی آلفرد آدلر، سبک زندگی و هدفمندی کنش پهلوانان سامنامه و بهمن‌نامه را تحلیل و مقایسه کند. روش: این پژوهش با روش کیفی و تحلیل محتوای متن‌محور، و با رویکردی تطبیقی میان دو منظومه انجام شده است. مؤلفه های نظریۀ آدلر ــ احساس کهتری، شیوۀ جبران، برتری‌جویی و علاقۀ اجتماعی، در کنار تیپ‌های چهارگانۀ سبک زندگی (فرمانروا، گیرنده، اجتنابی، سودمند اجتماعی) ــ به عنوان شاخص‌های متنی معین عملیاتی شدند و کنش‌ها و گفتارهای پهلوانان منتخب دو منظومه بر اساس این شاخص‌ها بررسی و با یکدیگر مقایسه شدند. یافته ها: در بهمن‌نامه، شخصیت بهمن بیش از همه به تیپ فرمانروا نزدیک است؛ زیرا کنش او عمدتاً بر محور کین‌خواهی و جبران احساس کهتریِ برآمده از میراث اسفندیار شکل میگیرد، هرچند نشانه هایی از عدالت‌خواهی نیز در او دیده میشود. در برابر او، فرامرز و برزین‌آذر به سبب پیوند کنش با مسئولیت و منافع جمعی، به تیپ سودمند اجتماعی نزدیک‌ترند. در سامنامه، سبک زندگی سام در تلاقی میراث پهلوانی، فشار اثبات خویش و تمنای عاشقانه شکل میگیرد؛ کنش او فردگرایانه و اثبات‌طلبانه است و به تیپ فرمانروا متمایل میشود، هرچند رگه هایی از تیپ گیرنده نیز در ساحت عاطفی او دیده میشود. در برابر، جمشید و نریمان به الگوی سودمند اجتماعی نزدیک‌ترند. نتیجه گیری: دو منظومه دو صورت متفاوت از بازنمایی پهلوانی عرضه میکنند: بهمن‌نامه بیشتر مبتنی بر جبران قدرت‌محور و انتقام است، حال آنکه سامنامه بیشتر متکی بر خوداثباتی فردی و علاقۀ اجتماعی است. با این همه، هر دو منظومه نشان میدهند که پهلوان حماسی، در پس چهرۀ نیرومند خویش، شخصیتی هدفمند است که کنش او پاسخی به احساس کهتری و طلب برتری است.سبک زندگی, هدفمندی کنش, سامنامه, بهمن‌نامه, آلفرد آدلر, پهلوان.life style, purposiveness of action, Samnameh, Bahmannameh, Alfred Adler, hero.https://bahareadab.com/downloadPDF/2052.pdfhttps://bahareadab.com/downloadPDF/2052.pdfhttps://bahareadab.com/article/سبک زندگی و هدفمندی کنش پهلوانان سام‌نامه و بهمن‌نامه بر مبنای نظریه آلفرد آدلرhttps://bahareadab.com/en/article/Life Style and Purposiveness of Action of the Heroes of Samnameh and Bahmannameh Based on Alfred Adler’s Theory
