The absence of Saluch is not simply the absence of an individual, but a semantic and emotional construction that puts all family relationships in tension. From the perspective of Grams’s tension semiotics, the narrative discourse moves on the circuit of the conflict between absence and presence, and this continuous movement leads to the production of meaning. In the present study, we intend to examine the semantic and emotional mechanism of Saluch’s absence on his family in the context of the story from the perspective of Grams’s tension semiotics theory and tension discourse. METHODOLOGY: The research method in this paper is based on the approach of Grams’ tension semiotics in a descriptive-analytical manner and based on library studies in the novel The Vacancy of Saluch. FINDINGS: The research findings show that the absence of Soluch as the main focus of the narrative in the novel The Vacancy of Soluch is a factor for emotional tension and creating meaning in the story. In Soluch"s absence, Morgan becomes anxious, angry, and disappointed. Soluch"s absence and recalling his memories cause a dynamic process and emotional tension in the course of the story"s narrative. CONCLUSION: According to the research results, Soluch"s absence affects not only his family but also the entire social structure of the village in terms of a tension process. The value system, social trust, and even economic relations all collapse under the influence of this absence. This absence is not simply an individual phenomenon, but rather a collective and social discourse that tells the story in the context of the problems that have arisen in a colonized society. In this narrative, by removing a character, various emotions and arousals emotionally advance the story"s narrative. The tension discourse in this novel shows how the absence and non-presence of an actor becomes the main factor in creating meaning.زمینه و هدف: رمان جای خالی سلوچ اثر محمود دولت‌آبادی یکی از برجسته ترین روایتهای اجتماعی ـ عاطفی ادبیّات معاصر ایران است که فقدان پدر خانواده را بعنوان هسته اصلی روایت بیان میکند. غیاب سلوچ، نه صرفاً غیبت یک فرد، بلکه برساختی معنایی و عاطفی است که تمام روابط خانوادگی را دچار تنش میسازد. از منظر نشانه ـ معناشناسی تنشی گرمس، گفتمان روایت بر مدار کشاکش میان غیاب و حضور حرکت میکند و این جابجایی مداوم، به تولید معنا می‌انجامد. در پژوهش حاضر قصد داریم ساز و کار معنایی و عاطفی غیاب سلوچ بر خانواده او را در بستر داستان از دیدگاه نظریّه نشان معناشناسی گرمس و گفتمان تنشی بررسی نماییم. روش پژوهش: روش پژوهش در این جستار بر مبنای رویکرد نشانه معناشناسی تنشی گرمس بشیوه توصیفی ـ تحلیلی و بر مبنای مطالعات کتابخانه ای در رمان جای خالی سلوچ میباشد. یافته های پژوهش: یافته های پژوهش نشان میدهد که غیاب سلوچ بعنوان محور اصلی روایت در رمان جای خالی سلوچ عاملی برای تنش عاطفی و ایجاد معنا در داستان است. در غیاب سلوچ، مرگان دچار اضطراب، خشم و ناامیدی میشود. غیاب سلوچ و یادآوری خاطرات او سبب فرایندی پویا و تنشی عاطفی در سیر روایت داستان است. نتایج پژوهش: بر اساس نتایج پژوهش غیاب سلوچ نه تنها خانواده او بلکه کل ساختار اجتماعی روستا را بلحاظ فرآیند تنشی تحت تأثیر قرار میدهد. نظام ارزشها، اعتماد اجتماعی و حتی روابط اقتصادی همگی تحت تأثیر این غیاب فرو میریزند. این غیاب، صرفاً پدیده فردی نیست، بلکه یک گفتمان جمعی و اجتماعی است که در بستر مشکلات بوجود آمده در جامعه ای استعمار شده را حکایت میکند. در این روایت با حذف یک شخصیّت، هیجانها و برانگیختگیهای مختلفی بلحاظ عاطفی روایت داستان را پیش میرانند. گفتمان تنشی در این رمان نشان میدهد که چگونه فقدان و عدم حضور یک کنشگر، به اصلیترین عامل آفرینش معنا تبدیل میگردد.گرمس, نشانه معناشناسی گفتمانی, جای خالی سلوچ, فرایند تنشی, غیاب.Grams.
